BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Oscar-winning documentary feature film "Free Solo" is set to open in Chinese mainland theaters on Sept. 6, according to the China Film Distribution and Exhibition Association.
It follows Alex Honnold as he becomes the first person to ever free solo climb Yosemite's 3,000 feet high El Capitan in the United States.
Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin, the 2018 film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary.
Produced by National Geographic, "Free Solo" has been described in a critic review by the New York Times as "an engaging study of a perfect match between passion and personality."
