HANOI, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's capital Hanoi has reported 548 dengue fever patients so far this year, tripling the figure of the same period last year, according to the municipal Center for Disease Control on Friday.
The city detected an average of 10 dengue fever cases per week in April, and 70-80 cases per week in May and early June.
In the coming days, the disease may spread wider in Hanoi and northern provinces due to hot and humid weather and rain, favorable conditions for mosquitoes to grow.
Over 67,000 cases of dengue fever, including three deaths were spotted in the first five months of this year across Vietnam, according to the latest report from its Ministry of Health. No fatalities were reported in Hanoi.
