TOKYO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares were mixed Tuesday morning as buying spurred by Wall Street's overnight rise was offset by investors opting for profits amid weaker-than-expected domestic earnings reports.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 8.39 points, or 0.04 percent, from Monday to 20,875.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.91 points, or 0.25 percent, at 1,585.24.
Oil and coal product, pharmaceutical, and consumer credit issues led decliners, while nonferrous metal, marine transportation, and textile and apparel issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
